ROSTER TRENDS/TOP STORIES

Week 6 Byes: Buffalo, Kansas City, Pittsburgh, Tennessee

Top Stories

• Eli Manning rumored to be getting a huge deal, bigger than brother
Peyton’s?

• Pacman Jones’ alleged brawl with a bodyguard at a Dallas hotel;
issue here is that if he misses any time, it’s a problem for the
secondary with news Terence Newman has a sports hernia and might need
surgery

• Marques Colston (thumb) and Jeremy Shockey (groin) each returned
for limited practices on Wednesday, and incredibly might be able to
play in Week 6

• Brian Westbrook suffered two fractured ribs in Week 5; game-time decision for Week 6

• Kurt Warner considered retirement following the vicious hit to Anquan Boldin in Week 4

• With the Oct. 14 trade deadline approaching, some mild trade rumors regarding receivers (Roy Williams, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, to name two)

Week 6 Injury Report

Anquan Boldin (fractured sinus): didn’t practice Wednesday, looks
doubtful to play
Deion Branch (heel): won’t practice this week, doubtful to play
Chris Chambers (ankle): missed Wednesday’s practice and almost
assuredly will sit, with Craig “Buster” Davis to start for him
Justin Fargas (groin): practiced fully Wednesday and will start;
Darren McFadden (toe): limited participant Wednesday, expected to
play but will be used as a backup
Anthony Gonzalez (concussion): didn’t practice Wednesday, questionable
Brian Griese (elbow): out for Week 6, Jeff Garcia to reclaim starting
role
Matt Hasselbeck (bone bruise in his knee): sat Wednesday’s practice
but is expected to start
Maurice Jones-Drew (sprained ankle): not on the injury report, will play
Jon Kitna (back spasms): didn’t practice Wednesday, sent for an MRI,
and sounds like he won’t play … so either Dan Orlovsky or Drew
Stanton will start, Orlovsky’s the favorite but he has an ankle
injury to monitor … ummm, yuck.
Willis McGahee (ribs): limited Wednesday but is expected to practice
fully Friday and play
Carson Palmer (elbow): should play, but looks like he might be a
limited practice participant all season
Eddie Royal (sprained ankle): incredibly, Mike Shanahan expects Royal
to play; likely a game-time decision
Matt Schaub (illness): will play, not on the injury report
Tony Scheffler (groin): out for Week 6, Nate Jackson benefits
LaDainian Tomlinson (toe): didn’t practice Wednesday, but promises to
play in Week 6
Brian Westbrook (fractured ribs): didn’t practice Wednesday, game-
time decision … but with the Eagles on bye in Week 7, thoughts are
they might use this as a two-week rest period
Roddy White (head): limited Wednesday, should be fine but just check
status in case he suffered a concussion after colliding with a
teammate in workouts
Selvin Young (groin): out for Week 6, Michael Pittman should get the
bulk of the work
