Favre…Manny…and more
FAVRE IS IN THE BUILDING…
Brett Favre’s jet landed in Green Bay and the Packers’ great walked out smiling and waving to a crowd of about 100 fans, his agent and wife by his side. At 12pm today, Favre will walk into Green Bay Camp and compete in an “open” competition for starting QB, but not before a strength and conditioning test, as well as meetings with Ted Thompson, the QB coach, the team and anyone else they can bring in to delay and defer Favre from beating out Rodgers in a competition for starting QB. If management really thinks that Favre can’t help Green Bay this year, then they must believe that he is not as good as he once was and getting worse…if that’s true than why are they SO scared to trade him to a division rival??
If it truly is a fair and open competition, then let’s start getting excited to see a legend back in uniform. You’re not sold on the fact that Favre is best for the job…?? Favre, 61,655 career yards, Rodgers 329 careers yards. Favre 442 TD’s. Rodgers 1 TD. Think that most of those stats are padded by the beginning of his career? Wrong. 4,155 yards last year (3rd highest in 17 years) with 28 TD’s. Can you say stud?! We might not all be Packers fans, but how can you not be a fan a Brett Favre? Bring him back!
WHO’S THE MAN?!
Manny Ramirez has been spotted running out a grounder behind third base at full speed until it was called foul!! And is not only hustling, but happy about his new organization and management! Manny has talked about playing out his final years in the MLB in LA and is already helping the Dodgers’ line-up.
During his first three games with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Ramirez has gone 8 for 13 with five runs batted in since Thursday’s three-way trade with Boston and Pittsburgh. Is this the new Manny, or will he be back to his old self, making cell phone calls during pitching changes?
No matter how many question his antics, who else can, against our very own Orioles…make a leaping catch in left field, hi-five a fan sitting in the stands and then throw back to the infield for an inning-ending double play? The guys sick! Ramirez hit above .300 five times, while topping the 30-homer and 100 RBIs barrier six times! Good luck in LA! I think it’s a much better fit for his comedy tour!
RAY LEWIS TAKES ON THE NFL!!
Who else is healthy and actually ready to play this season?? Ravens camp started with a few roadblocks… an absent Suggs, no insurance that Ray Lewis will retire a Raven, and a questionable QB spot. Just a few days in, add injured tackles Adam Terry and Jared Gaither wearing large boots on their sprained…Subtract Wideout Demetrius Williams (Achilles), tight end Aaron Walker (unknown), kicker Matt Stover (unknown), linebackers Dan Cody (foot) and Gary Stills (unknown), defensive tackles Haloti Ngata (MCL) and J’Vonne Parker (unknown), running back P.J. Daniels (unknown), fullback Justin Green (unknown), and defensive tackle Kelly Gregg (unknown) from the practice squad! At least we added Sgt. Slaughter! A real American Hero!
A few players were in uniform, but no reps, such as safety Ed Reed (shoulder), tight end Daniel Wilcox (foot), running backs Cory Ross (unknown) and Allen Patrick (unknown), cornerback David Pittman (foot) and wideout Patrick Carter (shoulder), defensive tackle Justin Bannan (unknown), and tackle Joe Reitz (shoulder).
I think we’re all very excited for the Harbaugh era, he’s mixing things up, making the Ravens a disciplined force, I just hope on opening day we’ll have enough players to field a team!
