Last Night The World Were Ravens Fans

Written by admin on December 5th, 2007 @ 10:32 am

Last night…for a single moment…the WORLD were RAVENS FANS!!!

The Ravens were up on the Patriots with under a minute remaining in the game.

And it looked as if “The NFL / Evil Empire” was going to go down by the valiant effort of Ray Lewis and his flock!

It was a great chess match between New England’s offense and Baltimore’s defense…

Quarterback Tom Brady and the Patriots used the no-huddle offense to limit the Ravens’ ability to use situational substituting, while Baltimore defensive coordinator Rex Ryan used different looks for all blitz packages in an attempt to disguise what the Ravens were going to do.

In the end, Brady’s ability to milk the 24 second clock to force the Ravens to show their alignments just before the snap allowed him to find the soft spots in Baltimore’s coverage.

For another moment…the WORLD became RAVENS FANS again when Bart Scott suffered a meltdown after the Patriots scored with a minute left in the game, drawing two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties - reflecting the frustration felt by ALL - every fan who would like to see the Pats lose and saw what might have been the closest game yet!

Baltimore’s lack of discipline, which resulted in 13 penalties for a loss of 100 yards, did not help in their attempt to derail the undefeated Patriots.

In the beginning of the season- the Pats were blowing teams out - now, they are barely escaping…last night - the closest finish yet!

And for another week - the Pats can claim continued arrogance…walk with Champion Swagger…because the bottom line - is that they can continue to claim they are undefeated

Anita, you are correct! The world was watching the Ravens/Patriots; proof was the Tv Rating of 17.5.
However, being a High School sports official for a long long time, I know that Not all Penalties are called : However, the NON-CALLS are what upsets me most! When Ben Watson can fire off the ball…run directly at Bart Scott; Head-butt Bart in the Chest, and get away with it, something is wrong. Ray Anderson swooped down on Thursday to ONE WINNING drive to Scold and fine the 4 Ravens who had the Audacity to Challenge the NFL’s REFS.
When will the NFL quit pretending every thing is on the up and up; One more thing on the Offensive Side of the ball for the Patriots. Matt Lite #72 , Patriots RT.. literally HEAD LOCKED our own # 50 Antwan Barnes and wrestled him to the ground no less than 3 times ..while Brady stands there in the pocket for 7 or 8 seconds and picks out a Receiver. Heck, you and I could complete passes in the NFL with that much time. You would have better luck than I would at my age. But that is a story for another time.. How bout the Blatant CLIP on Bart Scott on a 42 yard screen pass/run by Maroney that set up the explosions at the end of the game?
I could go on and on; but you saw all of this too: I think the REFs and the NFL do not favor the Ravens …as witnessed at the beginning of the Season on the HoRRENDOUS Call on Todd Heap in the Bengals Endzone.
In closing, I’m retired and never miss your show. Keep up the good work and I love Tom Matte; I worked at Ravens TRG camp during the 2004 & 05 Seasons at Mc Daniel college and got to Meet Tom Matte, Art Modell and Steve Biscotti and many ravens players. I worked for S.A.F.E. back then and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere of training camp.
Keep on what you are doing..we enjoy the show out here in Sykesville…the Radio shows at nite also! :-)

    Cheers,
    Harry O’Sullivan,
