Opening Day…

Opening Day…

An event… A happening… A day to take off work and enjoy America’s favorite pastime… Baseball

BUT…did you enjoy it?

Did you enjoy the 6-2 loss… watching Jeremy struggle with his command… Mora commit an error that resulted in a run… Adam Jones going 0 for 4…???

Well…you may feel - this is a sign of what’s to come this season - and you may be right…

BUT!!!

Are you willing to ride out the rough times - so you don’t have to call yourself a “BAND WAGONER” during the good times…?

That’s really what it comes down too Baltimore…

The O’s are rebuilding… They have young talent making their first start in the BIGS… They have vets playing rolls to help keep this team united… but it may not be pretty this year or next… it might not be pretty for a while…

But are you willing to ride it out and support this team at their worst… BELIEVING - it will get better…

Are you willing to dance with the ugliest girl on the dance floor…knowing she will eventually be the prom queen in a few years… GROWING PAINS my friends!

Ask yourself…

before the season started i told myself i wouldnt even watch baseball, turns out i cant turn away from this team, that has nothing to lose. the fact that gibbons was dropped, my ears perked up and i realized angelos, just shelled out millions and showed he wasnt the selfish guy ive always known him to be. longstory short
this made me wanna watch openning day, and i havent turn ed away. one final note if i was the gm i would make these 3 keys thing happen. daneil cabreira would be a my set up man in the bullen, brian roberts will not be traded, and our road jersy must read baltimore on the fron no questions asked.

You are more of a sports fan than I am. I’ve lived in Maryland the majority of my 58 years and I have never been to Camden Yards. I turned my back on the Orioles when Davey Johnson was fired. I used to go see the Orioles at Memorial Stadium, regularly.

Does any of this mean I will never go? Not at all. Peter Angelos is on probation this year. If he can go a year without mucking things up then it will be time to reconsider my position. The only thing Peter Angelos has proved to me is that he knows how to sue people, period.

To answer your question, if a person is a fan it shouldn’t matter that the team is young. The fans have to realize that they are part of the setting and can influence to outcome. Put down the newpapers and cellphones and watch the friggin’ game!!
    Get involved! Cheer! Yell encouragement!

I want to add that I’m sincerely glad you’ve come to Baltimore. In my opinion, you are the best thing to happen to the local sports media since Chuck Thompson.

P.S. I’m not a Ravens fan because we took Cleveland’s team away from them. It still doesn’t feel right with me. Though, Cleveland fared far better than Baltimore did when the Colts left. And I’m glad that football is back in Baltimore. But I’m a Steelers fan now as you already know. I’ve never told this to anyone before. Anita Marks, Sports Therapist!

    GO STEELERS!!
