Billick
If you want to talk about class, you better talk about Brian Billick. Three hours on the Mark Viviano Show today. It was great radio and I highly suggest that if you missed any of it, you should go online and listen to the podcast.
I have always been a Billick guy, so I’m not completely objective on this topic. Although he could have lashed out a several of his players and others within the Ravens organization to explain his team’s shortcomings this past season, he didn’t. He took the blame, even though, in my estimation, he didn’t deserve a lot of it.I will really miss Brian. I think he is as talented a coach as they come, and he is also a unique individual. I will always be grateful that he came to Baltimore. He took over a losing franchise and immediately generated confidence that he could bring the Ravens out of the dark ages. And he did… In just his second season he brought absolute glory back to Baltimore.
In my view, the genius of Brian Billick is that he is one of the first coaches in modern professional sports to truly understand his role. And he talked about it today. When things were going well for Billick it was not about X’s and O’s… it was about organizing… 53 millionares… and 16 assistant coaches… all of whom had their own agendas, yet all were on the same page.

Given that I am a little tired of the Harbaugh/ Billick discussions, that’s a relief of sorts. But, I think we heard it from our callers today too…. We here in Baltimore will look at Billick with fond feelings even as time moves on. And I will quote him forever.
But, if Billick wanted to explore a career in political office he could. Or, more to the point… if anyone needs a new P.R. person at his company, choose Billick.
