Final Thoughts on Bedard
Happy Monday Evening. So… back to the Erik Bedard deal. As I said on Friday, this is a good deal, but only time will tell how good a trade it really is. If Jones becomes an all-star centerfielder for the Birds, Sherrill turns out to be a good lefty setup man, and one of the three pitching prospects pans out or contributes, or is traded down the road for another good player, then it becomes a great trade. It is just not as clear cut as the Tejada deal… which was one of the greatest Orioles trades ever. There is a chance Miggy will be deported, and the Birds got 5 players for him.
The three pitching prospects the O’s got seems like a front court in basketball. How do you like 6′5” , 6′7”, 6′9”… wow.
Right now I am compiling my Orioles top prospect list. Everyone else is coming out with their organizational top 10 or 20…. and the top 100 best in the game, so I think I should give mine as well. This is the best and most interesting thing the O’s have going… But, I am waiting until we know about Brian Roberts, because the O’s are sure to add a few more in that deal.
Pitchers and Catchers Countdown: 2 days… doesn’t it just warm you up?
