Happy New Year
Happy new year… Yes, I said happy new year. It is a headline that I saw a few years ago on espn.com , which was used on the 1st day of Spring Training. Well, today it’s freezing in Baltimore–we just had a nasty ice storm–but the fact that they are playing ball somewhere means it is, indeed, a new year. And I am excited about it. I love the start of spring training. And, on espn1300.com my weekly audio commentary is about how much I love this time of the year.
Two of my passions in life are baseball and politics…. and today in Washington we are seeing both at their worst. Cheating in baseball is an important issue. Although I can’t stand Clemens, and his integrity is certainly in doubt, should this really be a matter that involves Congress? I don’t think so. Surely there must be a better way to spend our hard earned tax dollars…. I agreed with the hearings a few years ago, but this is rediculous. If they really want to solve this nations drug problem… they should force a dealer from Baltimore to testify. Let’s fix that drug problem first. Because this is just a grandstanding circus.
