Last Night
The Orioles’ victory last night was amazing, to say the least. Think about these unlikely happenings in the 1st inning alone. A Jeter error to continue the inning. Mussina walked a .200 hitter on four pitches with the bases loaded. Mussina allowed a 3 run double to Adam Jones on an 0-2 pitch. Mussina lasted just 2/3’s of an inning.
Simply incredible. Not that I didn’t enjoy every minute of it, but the Yankees simply looked like a bad ball club. Although I don’t think it will last, they do look bad. Undisciplined… underachieving… and they lack pithcing depth. With that being said, I think their future lies still with their young but talented pitchers. But, those kids will never get a chance to develop in the Bronx. They will be traded for washed up, older, more expensive talent at some point, if the younger Steinbrenners are running the team.
On the near brawl incident…. Cabrera clearly didn’t hit Jeter on purpose… Jeter’s X-Rays are negative, and I am happy for that. But, what Hawkins did yesterday was unacceptable. Throwing intentionally at someone’s head cannot be condoned. That is chicken BLEEP to say the least. There is a right way and a wrong to protect your teammates, and what he did was the wrong way.
As for Cabrera…. aka El Grande. Wow. I was skeptical… but maybe the big guy has turned the corner. It is certainly exciting. No walks in his last 2 starts…. 1 in his last 2 combined. I still believe the true test will be after he has a bad start; the issue will be how he will bounce back from that.
A quick look at the minors last night. Liz finally in the win column. His line 7 inn, 6 h, 0 er, 1 bb, 6 k’s
Brandon Tripp 4-4
Wieters 2-3, 2bb
Rowell and Snyder 2 RBI’s each
Chris Tillman is 5 and 0
Bowie has won 9 in a row….
