MLB Predictions

Written by Brett Hollander on March 27th, 2008 @ 1:45 pm

Here are my 2008 MLB predictions. Let’s see how good I am at prognosticating.

Before I do so,  just want to say that,  without a salary cap, baseball will never have teams going from last to first in successive seasons, in contrast to the NFL. But, the key word in sports these days is ”parity.” That seems to be the measure of  the quality of your league. The NFL has been king for a while. But, MLB is right there. We will figure it out when the NFL season starts and I give those predictions….

As I see it, 20 teams in baseball have a chance to make the playoffs… 20 out of 30! Remember, only 8 of the 30 teams make the playoffs. That is pretty remakrable.

Some of these division and wild card races are going to be unbelieveable and right down to the wire.

AL

East:

1) Boston 2) NYY 3) TB 4) Tor 5) Bal

Central:

1) Det 2) Cle 3) Minn 4) ChiSox 5) KC

West:

1) Sea 2) LAA 3) Tex 4) OAK

Wild Card: Cle Pennant: Detroit

MVP: Ichiro  Cy Young: Justin Verlander

NL:

Wild Card: ATL Pennant: NYM

World Series: Detroit over NYM in 7 games.

I am very ready for some baseball. And I can’t wait to compare my predictions to the one and only Mark Zinno.
