Rough Night in Pittsburgh
Next time, someone block number 92. Next time, don’t stand up and showboat after making a tackle when you’re behind by 35.
The only thing worse than the Ravens’ performance was the Steelers’ throwback jerseys. Someone should just throw them back. We had to watch that for three hours AND listen to Tony Kornheiser. Painful.
Recently when filling in for Mark Viviano, I said this team’s problems go way beyond injuries and that the team is lacking playmakers on offense. Can’t imagine too many not agreeing with that now.
Steve McNair has had an excellent career. He’s talented and tough, but can’t get it done anymore. A long pass with him in the game is a 15-yard slant pattern. To have any chance down the stretch, the Ravens need to go to Kyle Boller. The odds are it won’t get much better, but he’s more mobile and can throw it down the field better.
A bigger issue is that the Ravens quarterback of the future, someone with talent, is not on this team right now.
Are the players no longer hearing Billick’s message? With two weeks to prepare and then seeing all the miscues, someone or many someones just weren’t even close to ready to play. There is shared blame there, between coaches and players who have to be more focused than that.
I have a hard time seeing the Ravens win many more games, even Cincy this week.
I’m not sure how its all unraveled so fast but it has. There are few play makers on offense, the defense is no where near its once dominant self, the injuries are crushing and not even Matt Stover field goals can save them now.
Now, the Ravens have to concentrate on fixing what has become suddenly many problems before they think about winning seasons or playoff berths.
