Here we go again….
That’s right, Brett Favre is coming out of retirement…again. (Stop me if you’ve heard this one before!)
He is a truly great player, one of the best of his era, and he will be enshrined in Canton one day. However, a legitimate question must be raised here: has he tarnished his legacy?
Twenty years from now, will we be talking about all the amazing things he did on the football field or will we be discussing the clumsy, on again off again way he chose to end his career?
This needs to be brought up, too: what about the fans in Green Bay? They supported, or even worshipped Favre for the better part of two decades. Now they have to deal with him coming into Lambeau Field as the quarterback of one of their biggest rivals. Kind of awkward to say the very least.
Imagine it this way: what if Ray Lewis held a tearful press conference announcing his retirement only to see him change his mind and sign with Pittsburgh or Washington.
You wouldn’t like that very much, would you?
That’s pretty much the way the folks in Green Bay are gonna feel this fall. I feel for them in this deal….you should, too.
