Rush, Rush … hurry, hurry come to me …
Is there anything more ridiculous than the NFL already blackballing Rush Limbaugh out of the possibility of being a partial owner of the St. Louis Rams? I am trying to figure out what may be, but I’m coming up empty.
I dare someone to find me a legitmate reason he shouldn’t be allowed to be a MINORITY owner? I dare someone else to find me a reason to NOT let it at least go to a vote by the other owners???
What did Rush do that was so horrible? “I think the media wants to see a black quarterback succeed” is what he said. Stupid? Yes. Irresponsible? Definitely. Racist? Well, I don’t know and it’s not for me to judge. That’s in the eye of the beholder. Either way, Marge Schott, the former owner of the Reds fired off plenty of racist comments. She never got booted out. John Rocker went on a racist tirade insulting half of the United Nations. He was still pitching. This is about business. Nothing else.
Speaking of business … legitimate businessmen like Jay-Z, who is part owner of the New Jersey Nets, well, he used to sell a whole lot of drugs. Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks, supported the making of a movie that blamed the United States for the events of 9/11. So Rush making his comments about Donovan McNabb must supercede all of this!Â
All that silliness aside, the only thing that matters here is that the man has enough money to make a purchase, so he should be able to do it. At least let this thing get to a vot by the NFL, instead of blackballing him out before his possible fellow owners have a say.
We have gotten so quick to dictate what’s right and wrong these days, that the idea of democracy and due process is a moot point. And lastly, when did anyone in America care more about WHO signs their paycheck rather than the AMOUNT on it????
