Bye week …
Ahhh … what to do? No Ravens football. I guess this is a time to reflect on the Purple and Black and their performance thus far. Here’s my report card:
Quaterback - A- : Joe Flacco has shown progress, maturity and development. A few of his passes have been erratic with too much air underneath them … and some problems on the deep ball, but this guy is the QB of the future. A stud for a long time.
Running Backs - B+ : Ray Rice and Willis McGahee can be a dangerous tandem, although Rice looks like he is ready to carry the full load.
Wide Receivers - B : There were complaints this group wasn’t good enough … maybe not. But what they lack, Joe Flacco makes up for! They can get the job done.
Offensive Line - B : Still a young group, but they have protected Flacco and opened holes. They can only get better.
Defensive Line - B- : They need to be better. They need to get a better push, but they are still one of the best against the run. No complaints there.
Linebackers - C+ : I wonder if they know where the other team’s QB usually lines up, but they need to find him and tackle him … especially the $66 million dollar man, Terrell Suggs.
Secondary - D+ : Bad … ugly … awful. I could go on, but why? They were unproven before the season and now they are proven … proven to be bad. If they continue to give up big plays, this season could turn for the worse.
Special Teams - C : If this turns around, I think eveything gets better. Changes need to be made though.
Coaching - B : They looked good through a 3-0 start … and questionable in the next 3 games, all losses. I still have faith in John Harbaugh to turn things around.
Analysis: It’s a 10 game season left for the Ravens. They are a game out of first and they control their own destiny. The Bengals loss will sting, but you can’t ask for anything else other than to be able to decide on your own if you can make the playoffs.Â
